The course begins with an introduction to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) process, emphasizing the significance of the OHS framework in ensuring workplace safety. Following this, the course delves into health and safety legislation, providing a comprehensive analysis of critical sections and regulations of the OHS Act to facilitate effective compliance.
Next, the program explores the various stakeholders in health and safety, detailing their roles and responsibilities to encourage collaboration in building a robust safety culture. The course then covers hazard identification, discussing methods such as physical workplace inspections and staff consultations and the different types of hazards commonly found in workplaces.
Participants will also learn about control measures to mitigate risks, including using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adequate signage, and maintaining housekeeping standards. The curriculum thoroughly examines common workplace hazards, including chemicals, ladder safety and manual handling, and practical safety measures for prevention.
The course also features a summative assessment to evaluate participants’ understanding and optional assignments designed to reinforce learning.
It is important to note that the Health and Safety 2 Course is not a follow-up to the Health and Safety 1 Course; however, the foundational information covered in Health and Safety 1 is revisited and expanded upon in this course.
